new members cannot see anything

When a person is invited to my server. they are greeted by nothing. they do not see any of the text or voice chats. I have to assign a role to them before that can happen. Additionally one of my members cannot see anything without a specific role.

  This is already a feature that can be set up in roles. Make sure your barren wasteland channel is the #general chat channel that was first created. Set everyone permissions to denied everything. Test your roles with a dummy account to verify you did it right.
