Blocking a user should hide your discord tag from them
While blocking a user is tremendously useful, for the particularly motivated it does little to stop them from making an additional discord account and continuing to harass or attack a person.
Changing tag number does little to stop this as the blocked users' direct chat remains accessible and shows updates made to the account, whether name, or tag, as long as they keep the direct chat window open with the user or share a server with them.
Blocking a user should hide at least the tag # associated with the account that has blocked.
EDIT: After feedback on discord tag versus ID, my post is specific to the visible discord tag not the discord ID.

That is actually not a good idea at all. If someone do vera bad stuff and then block you, you cant find their id.

Pros:
It will help prevent being spam botted by the annoying fella that got rekt in a game of CS:GO by you.
Cons:
If the person who blocked you is a Rule breaker/ And or is disrespectful/Scamming/Etc then you can't report them, Why you may ask? Why, Because in order to report someone you must get the persons discord ID, If they block you, You won't be able to get the ID Therefor you can't get them banned. I know I know, You're probably thinking 'Why do I need the persons discord ID? I can just get their username' Well, Discord users can change their discord username, But they can't change their discord ID. So the discord staff team needs that ID To make sure they aren't dropping the ban hammer on the wrong person.
And if they do ban the wrong person, Well, this might happen to the moderator;

So you actually CAN change the ID number associated with your username. I am a Nitro user and I don't recall if it is specifically a Nitro only feature. Further, I do not know if that ID change is simply a mask rather than an actual ID change. I would imagine it is likely a mask.
In addition, not to nitpick too much, but if one is needing to report someone wouldn't it be more plausible to begin the report and include their username / ID before blocking them?
I do really appreciate the feedback!

There's a big difference between an identifier tag (example: Keith#1111) and a discord id (example: 179780439450451968)

I totally agree. Could you point me to where one user can see another users discord id instead of their tag?
In the use case of one wanting to report someone by that id, how would the reporter acquire it to include in a report.

Nevermind, I found it. You can right click a users profile and hit "Copy ID" and it will spit out the actual discord id. I will edit my suggestion to clarify this point, thank you.

No problem. :)

There's not much that this suggestion would be able to do which would prevent someone from getting those details anyway. There are a huge number of Discord Bots that can do a lookup on both a UserID and a DiscordTag when you feed the Bot with the other one. Since you probably won't have blocked the Bot and because of how the API works, someone could get the details that way. 0 -
This would have various problems. (Eg, people could block you to stop you from being able to report them). That assumes you'd do the full job and block ID copying etc 0 -
he can just ask someone else or get it before you block it 0 -
This wouldn't really stop anyone because they'd still be able to copy your ID and find your account anyway 0 -
Please implement the blocked user not being able to see the Discord tag, it would prevent group harassing and the person being able to find you no matter how many times you change your name or tag just because they sent you a DM. That seems like a serious privacy issue.

It will never happen. The idea is flawed and its not going to work.
