Ability to delete all messages in a channel or DM.
Respondida I have 110,000 messages on a server who's culture has changed for the worse, and I don't feel as if I need my personal info out and easy to get to by the people that are now on it, and I don't physically have the time to delete 110,000 individual messages.
Could this be added to the client, I know of quite a few people who just delete their accounts and start new because this option doesn't exist.
Would seriously be appreciated.

the easiest way to do this as of now is to simply delete the channel and create a new identical channel. In terms of DMs there's no easy way to purge messages afaik -6 -
I would say the reason this likely wouldn't be implemented is that pruning messages makes a lot of requests to the API, and as such, even bots don't have the ability to prune messages more than 2 weeks old. The ability for any user to instantly delete all of their messages would create API issues out the wazoo

That's a good reason as to why it's difficult but that's not exactly a very good excuse not to do it all, I'd be totally okay with them announcing that problems will occur throughout this process, or that they'll try it on smaller scales and it'll be a few weeks or even months before the feature is released, but to just not do it at all is kind of lazy.
I feel like they're really over looking people who want this.16 -
While i agree with the idea that it might do "too much" api request
I think it's still worth it to consider this idea, for when you rather not have your messages be available
I would think something that has a have a waiting period before you can do it again (per server and allows you to "batch channels self delete") and it also wont do it instantly but over course of time slowly to reduce stress,
This probably have to be done on discord's side to prevent unnecessary api loadI think this should be implemented anyways as user could invoke "Right to be Forgotten"(i am not a lawyer but i am pretty sure EU users can practice their rights to it) and it would be preferable for both sides if there's way to nuke everything in one server, or ALL servers into orbit,
users and the support team dont have to deal with legal matter and time wasted on sending emails back and forth if all of these are condensed into 1 button7 -
DM messages can be deleted by deleting the DM conversation then just sending another message. What I do is just never post any personal info on servers.

yea i try not to but when you're on a server for a year and use it daily sometimes info just gets out, and that doesnt work for me, the conversation is still there if I close a DM

How exactly would they make that work, like right click on a user and select how many messages you wanna delete? 0 -
Braydon, maybe there could be a small checkbox that could appear next to the kebab menu. Or maybe there could be a 'Message Delete' mode or something. 0
