Same problem here. Yesterday discord and microphone where working fine with my Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.
Today, the microphone stays silent. Ubuntu is recognizing the microphone and I can see in the configuration centre, that the microphone is working and picking up my voice. However, even though discord is access the right device, after a second of white noise nothing is picked up from the microphone any more.
I would be very thankful if someone knows a solution for this.

Found a workaround... use the web version with Firefox... it works (while funnily it did not work in the past before this issue, LOL)

Similar problem here. The mic works for about half a second after joining a voice channel as well as in the 'mic test' in the audio&video settings. Then: no more sound from my mic. After a short while, the linux desktop app displays "Well, it looks like Discord is not detecting any input from your mic. Let's fix that".
Problem is only with the mic. I can *hear* other people in the voice channel just fine.
Funny enough, as long as I am not in any voice channel, the "input sensitivity" level meter in audio&video settings does show microphone input normally and continuously.
Yesterday everything still worked fine. When I started discord 30 minutes ago, it pulled an update and now it's somehow unable to grab the mic samples.
I am on archlinux with a pulseaudio setup.

Also happening on Fedora 29. Mic works for less than a second, then discord stops getting input.

For me the microphone started working again when I deactivated "Noise Suppression". But then the sound has much static noise in the background.
Using discord via Chrome I don't get any noise, whether "Noise Suppression" is activated or deactivated.

Thanks Boern.
I deactivated Noise Suppression and switched to Debug Logging. Now the sound is clear.

Thanks Jake, I confirm that deactivating Noise Suppression resolves the problem for me, Thank you.
