Many people liked the idea of an off-white + more uniform light theme, so I made a little concept of it, just in case you guys wanted to improve it! I agree. Also, the dark mode isn't black, so light mode shouldn't be eye-hurting white.

I'm actually half blind, so I HAVE to use Light theme to even be able to read. The Dark theme makes my head hurt trying to use it.

I regularly have to use the light theme due to my phone screen being dim, and the current theme is both ugly and legitimately poor for usability because of some aspects being dark. This design is a massive improvement and I would be much happier with Discord as a whole if this was implemented.

Can people actually post something useful instead of the dark over light theme war. I agree and I think this should be implemented into discord.

I feel that people are only disliking this suggestion as they do not personally like or use light theme.
Despite myself not using light theme and preferring the dark theme. I believe that the light theme should be improved for those who use it which would include having the side menu being the same colour.
It may as well be renamed "Light Colour ChatBackground" as a 'theme' takes presence all over something.

Didn't see that post when I looked for stuff earlier and it's not saying exactly what I am saying here, but I definitely agree with it as full customizability would be ideal so that anyone can set it to what they prefer. Problem is that was made 5 months ago and there has been no word on it from Discord staff from what I can tell.

On top of making the sidebars match the chat, I think there should be an option for black text with light theme OR gray text with light theme. I've seen a few people say that they don't like the gray text but personally I think it matches the colour scheme and black would look out of place next to the whites and grays, considering there is quite literally nothing "dark" or harsh in light theme. But obviously since others would prefer black text, it could be beneficial to just make it customizable so everyone is happy/able to bare light theme.

Personally I'd rather light theme not existed (joking).
But, I wouldn't mind the ability to customize the color theme ourselves (with color restrictions or presets of course, to prevent the more "adventurous" individuals from blending their font into the background).

#ECECEC would be the perfect color to replace the normal light theme background with and just keep the other grays the same.

Well.. When I'm in class using my laptop, it's easier to pretend I'm doing my school stuff when I'm done, cause light theme blends with every other websites and such. I switch to white when outside walking and I cant see stuff on the phone, and switch back to dark when I'm home in bed.. I think both are pretty okay when you switch them depending on your environment?

WOW, I Just turned on light mode for the first time and it was a jarring experience!
Have the devs heard of 'contrast'?
1. The white background is not exactly white. It has a peachy or orange tint to it, making it even harder on the eyes.
2. The chat font is dim gray, and has low contrast against the bright background. Even this website suffers from that, to a lesser extent.

The channel list side bar in light mode has been made even worse with the redesign, it didn't used to trigger my eye issues with looking too long at light text on a dark background because I didn't have to look at it for long but now I can barely glance at it before I get weird effects.
Make every part of the theme light please!

my 2 issues with it is just that it isnt unified1/3 stays dark and 2/3 is light which doesnt look good, and the level of whiteness hurts the eyes honestly if those two things changed id use it because it wouldmatch everything else

Since my thread is being deleted because it was a duplicate of this one, this is what I originally said.
"I prefer light mode when it comes to my apps, however, Discord's light mode just doesn't cut it. I know that many prefer the dark mode as well and don't care for the light mode, but for users who rather use it, its very lacking. Not only do you have the left side still black, but the text can be hard to read. Here is a quick design that shows how a proper lightmode would look in Discord, fixing the light text, plus making the left side black."
