Having SMS for 2FA is great to have, even though google auth app can be used, it's another option that can be used for an example if you factory reset your phone. Your sim card will allow such account recovery.

  This is already available, although it requires you to setup an Auth app first. After you setup an Auth app you can turn on "SMS Backup Authentication" in Discord settings and that will allow you to receive a verification code through your phone number
