New Channel Setting Suggestion for Information Channels

One addendum I'd like to add for this feature is a "Always stay current" - regardless of read status.

I run a small discord that has game server streams (repurposed IRC bots stripped down and broadcasting game events to discord). The events happen quite quickly, but if you're not watching it, discord will just stack up the messages until you read through them which isn't desirable for the purpose of streaming game events to discord.

You know those lines like "31 February 2020" in channels? They are also annoying in information-oriented channels imo.

Here's what I'd suggest in addition:

Role selections, social media, anything informative should become this type of channel (and the rules channel would have these settings by default)

When creating this channel type, everyone cannot talk by default setting (same as how announcements do it).

This channel would (for people who cannot talk in this channel):

    • Automatically hide the day-lines (when a message was sent)
    • Eventually a /hr command can be added, so you would still be able to split into sections.
    • Hide the usernames/avatars of message authors
    • 'Spawn' at the top of the conversation
    • Keep traffic of who read it (could be hard to implement but quite handy). This would store the 'most low' message a user has seen or at least had loaded. Bots could make benefit of this by e.g. muting users until they have read all of the channel contents (or at least to a certain message).

For people who can write into the information channels:

    • Extended Markdown [](), #, ##, ###, bullet lists actually becoming bullet lists
    • Ability to edit messages of other senders (Treat this more like a wiki channel, you wouldn't want to wait till that person comes online). This would show "edited by whom" in case of abuse.
    • Embed Constructors for Users (not everyone has a bot, and i think this would help out smaller servers)
    • Higher character limit with the cost of lower rate limits to prevent this feature being abused.
