An idea
This isn’t exactly a review on the site, so apologies if this doesn’t seem like an important one but this could benefit those who are neurodivergent on the site.
Neurodivergent people often have trouble expressing their emotions with text and they often struggle with what could be sarcastic or serious in some instances. Would there be a way of implementing a certain animation that comes with these texts whenever they are brought through. If so, that may be a good idea.
So with serious or anxious posts the text could be shaky and this could be implemented by putting :shake: at either end of the text to make their text shake slightly.
For sarcastic posts it could be that there’s another animation that could be handled such as an automatic italic system or having a certain animation play over that for sarcasm. This would go with each of the text tones that are used to give the ND user a vague idea of what is happening.
For an automatic version of this, this could be done in the form of an accessibility setting where the user can click on a setting and have automatic tone tags be a part of their conversation.
Here are the various tone tags that people use on sites such as Reddit, Twitter, Quotev and Imgur.
/j - joking.
/hj - half-joking.
/srs - serious.
/lh - light hearted.
/t - teasing
/s - sarcasm.
/c - copypasta.
/ij - inside joke.
/gen. - Genuine
/lyr - lyrics.
/ind - indirect.
/li - literally.
I understand that a lot of these can be done through emoticons to show emotion, since that was what they were implemented for but it could be an idea for anyone who gets confused on these tone tags. This is why animations may be good for this text.
I also take into account that all tone tags may not be able to have their own individual animation or unique identity. But the main ones to target are these:
/s
/srs
/c
/lh
This is just an idea. I am unsure whether this would work properly but hopefully there could be a way to make it happen.
Edit: I’m also aware that this could be implemented by something like a bot.
Hope everything is going well for anyone reading this.

It would be hard to create an AI for it as the AI would have to take into account many many things, it would have to know the speech patterns of the user sending the message, the context of the message, the messages leading up to that message being sent, and many other things to even begin to become accurate. AI really isn't at the point to just determine this, and I think it would be easier to just add them yourself if you're talking to someone who would be helped or would require this.

Ah, I was just extremely curious as to what would be the case if this were to be properly implemented into the application. Since I am unsure about the programming that goes into these things, it was nice to get a more experienced point of view on this. So thank you very much for that!

Maybe there could be a "Neurodivergence Project" where people could create their own neurodivergence effects, and people could submit them as code for easier implementation.

Introducing animations or visual cues for different tones in text-based communication could indeed benefit neurodivergent individuals, as well as others who may struggle with interpreting tone. Your idea of using specific tone tags to trigger animations, like the :shake: for serious or anxious posts, is creative and could potentially enhance clarity in online interactions. While implementation may pose some challenges, exploring accessibility settings or automatic tone recognition features could be valuable steps forward. Your consideration of various tone tags and their potential impact is commendable. Let's hope for further discussions and developments in this direction to foster more inclusive communication platforms for all users.
