Hide messages from user without blocking them

Like other users on the forum have suggested, I want to recommend a "mute text" feature for Discord. Even the closest relationships have disagreements from time to time, but users shouldn't have to unfriend and block every time it happens just so that they can get the distance they need to feel better. Can we have a feature that allows us to remain friends with someone while also effectively hiding their messages in servers. DMs, etc?

    I hate having to block someone if they're just cluttering up a chat I'm trying to read. Making a text mute would be an actual godsend

    Please can we get a feature like this where I can hide a post from a user w/o having to block them? I mean, I’m terrified of spiders, if someone in my discord posts a pic of one, I would really like to “hide” that on my end and not have to block the person.

    Yeah I hope they add this feature. I don't want to block some people since I still like them but they tend to get so annoying that I'd rather not see their posts.

    Please do this!!! And just have it be individual messages you can hide and unhide with a simple hold down/right click and click/tap on the hide message option! As well as having a message in it's place saying "This message has been hidden by you"

    Yes please! I just made a similar post on this and I really want to hide a particular person's messages in chat because they are upsetting me but at the same time that person is not only my friend but a moderator of the server I am in, so blocking them is out of the question.

    Need this feature definitely !

    I have a friend on our discord that post regularly unwanted messages and I would like so much to mute him sometime.

     

    We already discussed the topic in the server and we agreed it was too hard to ban it from posting but it still disturb most of us.

    Can Discord please implement this? I would use something like Soft Block with better discord but i don't want to risk getting banned.

    Please give us the tools to make our own experience on discord safer, rather than relying on server moderation. I'd love to just be able to say, this person isn't being safe right now, or I get into a bad headspace whenever they share some opinion that ‘yucks my yum’ and i'd prefer to just not interact with them without them knowing that I'm avoiding them. It'd be so nice if i could flip a switch and say, I'm ok to interact with this person for a time and then flip it back when i need to create space from them but want to still be able to interact with other friends in servers i participate in.

    If i could get a job at discord, this would be the feature i would implement, get shipped and then quit. fix the bug that's been plaguing me for ages on my first day and then quit.
