If you’re encountering an error message indicating that Discord is unable to detect your microphone on your desktop/browser app, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
How to Check Voice Input
One of the first things you want to check is to make sure the correct input device is selected in your desktop/browser Discord app.
1. Tap on the cogwheel icon [] in the lower-left corner of the app to access your User Settings.

External Microphone Issues
1. Make sure the USB or 3.5mm input jack of your external device is securely connected to your computer. Please make sure to also try different, available USB/input jack ports.
2. Check to see that you don't have a hardware mute engaged on your computer.
3. Verify that you have the latest drivers and software downloaded for your computer.
4. Test if using Push to Talk instead of Voice Activity (and vice versa) makes any difference.
