Adding SMS Backup Authentication as a method for password resets
Discord has multiple 2FA options, but what is not explicitly stated is how and when you can and cannot use each 2FA option. I got locked out of my account due to a scammer trying to make high dollar amount Nitro purchases, so my account was disabled for suspicious activity. When I tried to reset my password to gain access, it only asked for a backup code or an authenticator code via authenticator app. SMS was not an option here, and it wasn't until I learned via support that SMS is not an option for password resets. This was never explicitly stated, otherwise I would've downloaded an authenticator app, but I have always had my phone as an option and it was more convenient for me than the app. I downloaded my backup codes when I initially setup my 2FA, but I recently got a new hard drive upgrade and never even thought to go back and download my backup codes again. I have always used my SMS verification to login to my account or get past 2FA for anything Discord related, but the fact I can't use it for password resets is very depressing, as I am now about to lose my Discord account of 8 years over a scammer. I believe this would greatly help the community, as I have read multiple other posts on various websites about similar situations and people are losing Discord accounts left and right.

yeah this is pretty dumb, just went and saved my backup codes again because of this lol. you'd think sms would be an option, why is it not an option for resets? did they ever clarify?

No clarification, not sure why it's not an option but hopefully it gets added!
