Discord does allow users to pin messages at the top of a chat. Here's how to do it:

    1. Hover over the message you want to pin.
    2. Click on the three dots that appear on the right side of the message.
    3. Select "Pin Message" from the dropdown menu.
    4. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to add an optional message to go with the pinned message. You can leave this blank if you don't want to add any additional context.
    5. Click "Pin" to pin the message to the top of the chat.

The pinned message will stay at the top of the chat, even as new messages are added. You can unpin the message at any time by clicking on the three dots again and selecting "Unpin Message" from the dropdown menu.

Lorna, this does not leave them fixed in the chat window. You didn’t understand what I proposed correctly. Fixed means it’s in sight at all times regardless if you scroll or if new messages come in. Fixed is not the same thing as a the current drop-down menu. Thanks for explaining how to pin a message though. I already know how to do that :-)

I have the same request. Having an all-time visible pinned text message like a banner at the top of a channel would make it easy to give instructions on how to use that channel. The channel description option called Channel Topic is fine, but unfortunately, it is ineffective. An all-time visible banner would make life easier.

Here are the same requests but as more popular versions:
