Can't change email without email verification
My account has both phone and email verification. I was using a uni email for the account, so and since then I have lost access the the email account. However my phone is still linked to the account, so why is it I can't use my phone to verify the discord account ?

Yes, that would be great. I don't see how Discord can't do that. I have the same problem, on my account that I set up a few years ago (on a now defunct domain) several bots, together on about 100 servers, I own several servers. Support recommended me to make a new account, but that's not an option now.. I can't even receive messages regarding the process of requesting permission intents on my bot, so it's pretty crappy

I'm here to say that I am going through this exact same issue, and it really does suck. The fact that they have the audacity to tell us to create a new account (after we have had our accounts for years) instead of implementing a method to change the email on your account is utterly incompetent and stupid. It is very clear that they have no care for their users and are not willing to put in the effort to keep us happy and satisfied with their service. I am very disappointed in Discord for this, and will likely quit using the service because of this reason. I have been using Discord for nearly six years and this is how they treat me (and many others).
