Privacy Policy Changes and AI bot opt-in options
I'll start this off with: AI moderation and the chat bot aren't the things I'm worried or scared about.
I'm worried about the removal of certain lines in the updated ToS about not storing uploaded images and recording calls and video streams. As an artist it makes me worried that my works could be used to fuel the AI learning without my permission. As a person I'm uncomfortable with my voice possibly being used to fuel AI learning without my permission.
We as a community value our privacy. The privacy concerns grow worse and worse over time and I feel like the more time that passes without you guys clarifying the removal of:
We generally do not store the contents of video or voice calls or channels. If we were to change that in the future (for example, to facilitate content moderation), we would disclose that to you in advance. We also don’t store streaming content when you share your screen, but we do retain the thumbnail cover image for the stream for a short period of time.
from the Privacy Policy, the worse things will get and the more people will cancel Nitro subscriptions and leave for other platforms. I currently do not feel safe sharing my art on your platform anymore until this is changed back or joining public voice calls.
As for the AI stuff, it should be opt-in only. Super simple there. The controversies around AI training and what is and is not ok data to collect are pretty well known by now. Here's hoping you all do the right thing by adding back actual privacy to the platform as many MANY people have disliked the sudden change and additions being so close together and without warning.
