Feature request: Pause (deactivate) mode - out of office
I think Discord could benefit from a new account setting that pseudo-deactivates your account without deletion. If used, all of the servers you are in would be inaccessible, you would not be able to receive pings, join additional servers, or change your nicknames. It is essentially a DM-only mode with your friends and any incoming requests, if enabled. I think this works similarly to how a deactivated Facebook account can still use Messenger and communicate with existing friends.
The best advantage to implementing this feature, I feel, would allow an alternate option to those seeking to take a social media purge or break. Lots of us do this from time to time, and I think it healthy to do so, but disabling one's own account is often inconvenient because it begs the question of why a user is on a hiatus.
I think that implementing a DM-only mode (dubbed "pause mode", just a thought) could come with an optional status message and a new display bubble instead of the green, yellow, red, and grey. A "pause mode" status could briefly convey why a user is unavailable to access their list of servers, such as if someone is out of town and just not using Discord unless it is a DM. This is effectively similar to a Microsoft Teams out-of-office message, only with constraining the user to DMs.
