Are voice messages stored as some sort of proprietary audio format which is the only thing mobile clients are compatible with for some reason?

the discord voice message are infact just ogg opus files (go to the web version of discord, open the network tab on devtools and click on a voice message; you'll see a "voice-message.ogg" pop up) so yeah, really strange not being able to play other audio files

In the support ticket regarding this, a support team member said (after nearly three weeks of back and forth while I tried to communicate that this is an issue with all devices, not just mine):

We heard back from the team and they let us know that the mobile version of the app does not support audio file previews like on the Desktop version. It is possible this may change in the future, but at this present time, in order for you to listen to an audio file from Discord you'll need to download it and opened with the native audio playback application available on your device.

Like, yeah, I'm aware of that.

Still no word on why, though.

Adding my support to this feature. Discord mobile has supported video embeds for years now, and I'm in discord servers where people make music and share stuff in progress with mp3/wav/ogg uploads. I'm not always at my computer so it would be really nice to listen to them on mobile.
