Age verification should be handled by discord. Server owners/staff shouldn't be able to request ID.

Private individuals should not be requesting IDs for age verification on a server by server basis.

1. Discord should implement it's own age verification service and add corresponding server administration functionality to prevent underage users from joining servers that require age verification.

2. Discord should add a badge/sticker to age verified profiles located in a conspicuous location to allow easy identification of an accounts age verified status.

It is impossible to control and secure your private information when you're handing it over to a stranger on the internet, and you have no legal recourse if that information is used in a way that you find objectionable. This should have been Discords job in the first place, that it's been delegated to private individuals with zero affiliation to Discord beyond running a server on the platform is ridiculous.
