Discord should reserve names for those with a #0001 discriminator

What about people who paid for nitro but don't have their discriminator set to #0001? They paid the same amount

That's like saying: "What if they couldn't get #0001 and only got #0002?" Well, then either someone else already has the lowest-bit discriminator for that name, or they didn't care to get the lowest-bit value of that name's discriminator.

So because I don't care about getting #0001 I should miss out?

Someone who has the lowest bit discriminator of that name intended to do so, it's like the difference between "name#9999" and just "name". Because you couldn't get the very lowest discriminator, that means someone else already had it, so you're just gonna have to deal with whatever number you had in your discriminator. If you could change your discriminator to the #0001, and have had that name since before the username change was announced, I'd still say that's a fair earning of the reservation since nobody else had it. Even still, you'd have to hope for a variation of your name without spaces or special characters. If you had any illegal characters in your name you'd probably be out of hope regardless.

Limiting early access based on the numbers behind your name does not make sense at all. Just because one does not have #0001 set as their discriminator does not mean they are not a long-time Nitro subscriber. They may have opted to use #1000 or #1111 instead. Should they really be penalized for this? I for example chose #9999, not #0001 for my username simply because I liked it more. Would it be fair to make me miss out on the chance to secure my username just because of that?

When did I mention limiting early access? Sir, this discussion is about name reservation, not early access.

Also, it's not even that you're being penalized for not having the lowest tag, it's that the person with the lowest tag is being rewarded for their good thinking, and their desire to be associated with the username. If you like your tag so much, then I'd assume you have no problem putting it in your new username, and that shouldn't be a penalty. The lowest tag user is simply getting their username reserved because they don't think the same, and they don't like the numbers with their name.

Early access to the feature naturally also includes having your username reserved. And using a specific set of numbers is not "good thinking", not sure where you got that one from. To match your energy, I'll make the exact same proposition you did: If you like your #0001 so much, why not include it in your username? Exactly, there is no logic behind this at all. Might be best to rethink your theory from more perspectives than just your point of view, just a friendly suggestion.

"The lowest tag user is simply getting their username reserved because they don't think the same, and they don't like the numbers with their name." This should honestly be framed as one of the dumbest things I've ever read on the entirety of the internet. Why would you think the lowest number is the best one? This is not a CS:GO float rate, it is a discriminator anyone is free to choose.

I don't intend to discuss this any further with you as you don't seem to be able to comprehend arguments other than your own. Best to wait until you're a bit more mature in a few years, then feel free to remind me of this thread!

You're a very rational individual. Very polite, and you matched my energy perfectly! There are a couple key details you missed in your thesis though. Like, for one, it's common knowledge that 0001 is the lowest tag, and is even recognized by discord themselves! ;p Furthermore, it's not about being the "best" one, it's that it's obvious that whoever has that number values the name the most, as they want to be the one with the lowest for that name. It's like having the lowest print of a card, and only one person can have that print. I'm sorry to see you rush out of this discussion with a ruined day.... I hope you have a nice rest of your day Fridge9999

"Early access to the feature naturally also includes having your username reserved." Sorry bud, but the boat just ain't floating on that statement... Early access is when you get to choose your username earlier, unfortunately, you thought username reservation meant the same thing... Second of all, the decision of who the username is reserved for, is something that Discord has to make a "basis" of. So, for your sake, the only ideal thing you would agree with is if somehow you with your random number got the reservation, or there were no reservations at all, which further, to your horror, dismantles the relation between "reservation" and "early access". The most logical set of people to reserve a name for, is going to be whoever "paid", and had the lowest tag. This is because that person "paid" with the intention of having the lowest tag, "most likely" because they wanted a deeper association with the name. Also in this case, it's less likely that someone will be impersonated. I wish you the best of luck on reading and actually paying attention to the words of others around you, as to help you become more cooperative.

I agree with your suggestion that Discord should consider reserving names with the #0001 discriminator for those who have had the same name since before the new username system was announced on March 1st, 2023. Providing early access to these users when choosing their new username is a fair way to ensure they can maintain their identity and avoid impersonation.

People who have paid for the #0001 discriminator should indeed get their money's worth, and reserving their original name would be a thoughtful gesture from Discord. This approach would not only prevent potential impersonation but also recognize the value and investment these users have made in securing their desired discriminator. Thanks
