Make Community servers easily discoverable
Community Servers are meant to be easily searchable, findable, and discoverable both on Discord itself and externally (Internet Search)
But…
The Problem
Firstly, the Discovery Option in PC is not in a very good place as per its importance. After joining some servers, it goes down and doesn't come to eyesight unless you scroll down the Server List.
Secondly, if anyone uses mobile only or using mobile for that time and wants to join a new Community Server, they either have to collect the link from other socials or by searching on Google where the wished result (server link) does not come most of the time, or go to the Desktop version if the person has a PC nearly at that time. It's a sad matter that they can't use Discord itself directly to search/find Discord's public servers to join in that case and time.
Suggestions
- In PC, merge the Discovery option and the Search Option (above DM), take it above the layout or freeze it somewhere above that it can be easily noticeable. It can be used to search/find Discoverable Servers, currently joined Servers, Discord accounts etc. all together. The feature may be renamed "Search" to help people understand its purpose easily.
- Introduce this "Search" to mobile clients as well.
- When a new Discord account is created or logged in after a long time, show them to select some preferable topics from Server Category, Subcategories, Keywords (Gaming, Anime, Music, Chatting, Coding, Country Name etc.) and sub-topics (For Gaming: FPS game, Battle royale game, Open world game, Games' names/regions) and suggest relevant community servers to them to join. This feature is available in Reddit which helps Subreddits to gain more targeted members and increase the member's user experience on the app as they are easily getting what they prefer mostly.
- Other socials' top posts are found in Internet search results which helps to find/join/follow that social account. Discord may introduce such methods for messages of its Community Servers' Announcement channels and the Guidelines channel, and help to promote and find community servers even on an internet search. (and not to depend on third-party server listing websites.)
After searching certain keywords on the browser, relevant Community Servers should be shown in the search result. Results can be the Web Page of the server and/or messages of a server's Announcement channels and Guidelines.
