Screen Share is lagging
heyy, have for several months the problem when I look in a screen share purely that then my whole discord is lagging , so the voices lagging then from the other users, just as when I stream runs the stream not liquid , on the wifi it can not be, unfortunately have no idea how I can fix that , i didt all i can and nothing helped
I did
- Check Your Internet Connection: Even if you're on Wi-Fi, it's possible that your connection isn't stable. You can try using a wired connection to rule out any potential Wi-Fi issues.
- Lower Screen Share/Stream Quality: Reduce the resolution and quality settings for screen sharing and streaming. Lower settings require less bandwidth and can help reduce lag.
- Close Background Applications: Make sure you don't have resource-intensive applications running in the background. They can impact Discord's performance.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can lead to performance issues.
- Use Discord in Browser: If you're using the Discord app, try using Discord in a web browser instead. Sometimes, the browser version can be more stable.
- Clear Discord Cache: Clearing Discord's cache can sometimes resolve performance issues. You can do this in Discord's settings.
- Check Discord Server Region: Make sure you're connected to a Discord server in a region close to you. This can reduce latency issues.
- Reinstall Discord: If all else fails, try uninstalling Discord and then reinstalling it. This can fix any corrupted files or settings
and
turn off hardware acceleration on the app settngs "advanced
but sill the same problem

I've got the same issue.
I always had some issues with streams randomly dying after a couple of minutes on my old windows machine. But now I have a completely new PC testing several distros of Linux, and all of them are pretty much unwatchable on.
The stream dies of extremely quickly (usually withing a minute or two), and takes down the whole discord client with it. The whole voice chat is totally broken, you can barely hear anything what other people say, and your own voice isn't working at all, for the most part.
This is a 3k€ gaming PC, having the issue on several fresh installation of various Linux distros. My internet connection is better than most people's nowadays (both in speed and latency) and perfectly stable. So it's definitely not a hardware performance issue here.
Yesterday I noticed, running a stream through the browser seem to be somewhat acceptable. It will still commit seppuku at some point, but at the very least it doesn't take the voice chat with it into hell. And after I let it bleed out for a couple of minutes, it actually starts working again.0 -

While you mentioned several distros having issues, is there a particular one where the crashes seem slightly less frequent (like with the browser stream)? Focusing on that distro might give you a better starting point. So after that, you can play candy clicker with us

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to improve the performance:
- Check Your Internet Connection: Poor internet connection is often the culprit behind lag during screen sharing. Make sure you have a stable and high-speed internet connection. Consider switching to a wired connection if you're currently using Wi-Fi.
- Close Unnecessary Programs: Running too many programs simultaneously can strain your computer's resources, leading to lag during screen sharing. Close any unnecessary programs and background processes to free up resources for Discord.
- Lower Screen Share Quality: Discord allows you to adjust the screen share quality to reduce lag. Try lowering the screen share quality by clicking on the "Settings" icon next to your username in Discord, selecting "Voice & Video" under "App Settings," and adjusting the "Quality" slider under the "Video Settings" section.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or faulty graphics drivers can cause performance issues during screen sharing. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date by visiting the website of your graphics card manufacturer and downloading the latest drivers.
- Restart Discord: Sometimes, simply restarting Discord can resolve temporary glitches or issues. Close Discord completely and reopen it to see if the lag persists.
- Try Different Servers: Discord's servers can sometimes experience congestion or performance issues. Try switching to a different server region in Discord's settings to see if it improves the performance during screen sharing.
- Disable Hardware Acceleration: Discord's hardware acceleration feature can sometimes cause performance issues on certain systems. You can disable hardware acceleration by going to "Settings" > "Appearance" and toggling off the "Hardware Acceleration" option.
- Check System Requirements: Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for screen sharing on Discord. If your system is below the recommended specifications, it may struggle to handle screen sharing smoothly.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, it's possible that the problem may be related to Discord's servers or infrastructure. In such cases, you may need to wait for Discord to address the issue through updates or server maintenance. Additionally, you can reach out to Discord support for further assistance.

Hey there,
I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing issues with Discord lagging during screen shares and streams. It sounds frustrating despite trying various troubleshooting steps like checking your internet connection, adjusting quality settings, and turning off hardware acceleration. Sometimes, these issues persist despite our best efforts.
Regarding Optifine, just as optimizing settings can improve Discord performance, using Optifine in Minecraft can similarly enhance gameplay by boosting FPS and reducing lag. It might be worth exploring both avenues to ensure smoother experiences across different platforms.
Best of luck resolving the Discord issues!

You mentioned there are some distributions that have issues, but are there any specific ones (e.g. Browser Stream) that crash a little less frequently? Maybe if you focus on this distribution you'll get a better starting point, and then we can play Satta Matka together.
