CRITICAL BUG of Unread Messages being incorrectly marked as Read. Already submitted as a bug report, got a response of "Will Not Fix"

There is a bug where specific channels will no longer show as having unread messages, even when new messages are received for those channels. There seem to be multiple things that trigger this bug, I know one way to cause it but I still have this bug happen to me while carefully avoiding it.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Mark some messages in a channel as unread, enough to be more than a full page. Having media on the page makes it easier to trigger the bug.
2. Switch to a different channel.
3. Switch back to the unread channel and quickly switch to a new channel again. If the unread channel is now marked as read, it is bugged.
4. Future messages in this channel may still briefly show up in popups, but in every other way the messages essentially are invisible. The channel will not show unread messages, pings in the channel will be ignored, the server will not show unread messages if that's the only channel messages are happening in. There is no indication that the channel is bugged unless you notice a popup for it.
5. Opening the channel fixes the bugged state.

I submitted this as a bug report and was told it would not be fixed, “due to spam-switching channels”. I want to emphasize three things: First, this exact workflow can be done simply by misclicking on a channel and trying to quickly switch to the channel you intended to go to. Second, this bug has several things that cause it, I only know of this method to intentionally cause it but it has been messing up my unread messages for a year now, and in the last month I have been very careful to avoid quickly changing channels yet something is still causing this bug for me. Third, this is a bug that breaks a fundamental part of the program - Unread messages are ignored, pings are ignored, DMs can be hidden because of this bug - This is not a bug a chat program should ever allow to happen.
