[Server-Management Suggestion] Reduce rate-limits for moderators (Error 429 Too many requests)
I'm a moderator for some large servers and I often get rate limited after looking at too many profiles from the member panel. This is important work to do because a large portion of joining accounts consists of scammers and spam accounts. Promoting more moderators help but it is not always an option depending on timezone availability.
Replication:
- Open 100 or so member profiles within a certain amount of time.
- I'm not sure about the exact amount but can be 5 minutes, 10 minutes or 30 minutes.
Problem description:
- Opening ANY user profile shows a yellow mark and the error:
“Unable to load profile banner, badges, and about me.” - When a rate limit is in effect the developer console shows the following every time a profile is opened:
GET https://discord.com/api/v9/users/USER_ID/profile?with_mutual_guilds=true&with_mutual_friends=true&with_mutual_friends_count=false 429 (Too Many Requests)
Duration:
- This usually lasts for either 1 hour or 24 hours and makes it impossible to continue reviewing new joining accounts.
Attempted workarounds:
- I've already contacted support about this but their response is to just wait it out.
- Tried to forward this to development but did not get a reply.
Suggested solution for Discord development:
- Allow moderators a higher amount of viewed profiles for the servers they have banning permissions in.
- Add a profile panel to the members tab. Previous feedback: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/20747711231767--Suggestion-New-Mod-View-is-missing-About-me-page
- Don't punish dedicated HUMAN moderators who do a good job! We are NOT bots!
