This is a dupe of https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360029602152 , so I'm closing this out. If you'd like to have your voice heard please upvote that suggestion!

This is not a want. This is a need for massive servers that are in Discord!

This is a must after dealing with a spam bot last night pinging users in the discord I moderate.

Would be a very neat feature to have so then I can stop worrying about potentional raiders mass mentioning members who have opted into a certain role for notifications from a feed channel. Luckliy I havn't had this happen yet.

I came here because I can not comment on https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360035754511-Ability-to-mute-role-pings which is a separate issue, but was closed by Dabbit Prime as a duplicate.  I would like to see the ability for a regular user to mute certain role tagging in the notification settings.  There are communities that I would like to be a part of that use @customrole to tag their custom role, rather than use @everyone or @here since custom roles are immutable, even if the entire server is muted.

I seriously don't know why this hasn't been done before. It should've been implemented from the start. Especially the people who have Twitch/Youtube roles.

This is something that should have been added ages ago imo. It's annoying when you want to announce something in a server but you don't want to @everyone or @here since it annoys some people but you still want people to see it.
Some servers have a notification role for this but having to toggle it on and off Everytime gets annoying and it shouldn't be a problem to let the owners add who can ping certain roles. It's easy to forget to turn it off and then someone who shouldn't be able to ping it pings it and then depending on server size you'll have an unnecessary ping for lots of people..

Uhm, there is a permission for this already? It's called "Allow everyone to mention this role". You can for example make your server, add 8 roles an have them all unpingable then create a 9th role and allow everyone to mention that and everyone that gets that 9th role can be pinged?
