Yes, we are and since I'm an intern I don't have control over this. Like seriously if one of the HR's do it I will be the first one changing my VSC2019 into "I'm coding a bot leave."

There’s no point in keeping this kind of thing under lockdown, especially when it’s wrong. I have a game called “Amnesia: Memories”, and whenever I play it, discord says I’m playing “Amnesia: The Dark Decent”, which is very much a different game, and I can’t correct it because the latter is verified. I’d like to broadcast what I’m playing correctly, please.

I wholeheartedly agree with allowing us to change the name of 'verified games' for ourselves, due to an evident number of misnamed games. I recently began playing Silent Hill 3 on PC, and for some odd reason, Discord identifies it as 'Silent Hunter 3'. I'm honestly pretty surprised that it even went that way; You'd think it would happen the other way around, considering the games in question.

Guys wtf, just kill this "verified" thing or at least let ME decide if the game I'M PLAYING is actually the game you think it is, or just let me change the name of the game regardless of alleged verification status on your side.

It seems you're encountering an issue with the naming convention of verified games on a platform. While I'm not directly affiliated with the platform you're referring to, I can offer some suggestions for custom game names or potential solutions to your problem:

Contact Support: Reach out to the support team of the platform where you're encountering this issue. They may be able to assist you directly or provide insight into why certain applications are being verified as games.

User Feedback: If there's a feedback mechanism within the platform, use it to express your concerns. Many platforms actively consider user feedback when making updates and improvements.

Community Forums: Check if there are community forums or discussion boards related to the platform. Other users may have encountered similar issues and could offer suggestions or workarounds.

Workaround: While not ideal, you could temporarily disable the game status feature or use a different platform for displaying your current gaming activity until the issue is resolved.

Custom Game Names: Suggest the idea of allowing users to set custom names for verified games to the platform developers. This would give users more control over how their gaming activity is displayed.

Check for Updates: Keep an eye out for platform updates or announcements like https://luadist.org/final-fantasy-viii/. The issue you're experiencing may be addressed in a future update.

Remember to remain respectful and constructive when communicating with support or providing feedback. Developers are more likely to respond positively to feedback that is clear, polite, and offers potential solutions.

There's a much simpler workaround. Do not use hasslemark's link, it's probably a virus. Just rename the .exe file of your detected program. That's it. Discord will no longer view it as a “verified game,” so you can add it as a custom entry and give it any name you want.

It's also possible for anyone to create RPC (Rich Presence) for any program, which displays what you're doing in the app/game. OP asked for this exact feature. I have no idea how coders create them, but you can search GitHub for “Discord RPC” and you'll find various ones to use for free. Just make sure it's safe first.

If your program requires an unchanged .exe name, then you can instead add a random app such as Notepad as a custom game, give it the name you want, and run it in the background. Any program you open after that won't be detected so long as you still have the original custom-added app open.

About that hasslemark guy, that's definitely an AI-generated writeup with a spyware link thrown in. It sounded so weirdly professional until I figured that out. Anyway, 5 years later, this little guide I've written is the best solution.
