Can't directly access camera roll on mobile

I have an android phone, and whenever I go to send images I can't just directly go to my gallery. I have over 600 photos, but all in organized folders. But when I go to send anything, I have to scroll through the entirety of all my images just to find one picture that I could've easily found if I could access my gallery. I don't know if I'm missing something, or if there just isn't an ability to access it when on an android phone?
