Official Flatpak or Snap Packages for Linux
I think it would beneficial to have official Flatpack or Snap packages. This allows it to be distro independent and more secure than installing unofficial packages.

Let me just necro this.

Also good it would be grate to have at least .appimage. i think it quiet convenite and also provide cross-distribution abilites.

There's also a Snap from Snapcrafters already. It'd be nice if Discord will officially support this, and Flatpak.

The snap that already exists is not automated, so it has blackout periods where it can't launch and can't update. As a fedora user, implementing this would at least allow me to use non-web discord consistently and reliably, rather than being stuck with community availability delays or stuck with playing QE with half the updates.

Please, yes! See these issues:

I think now flatpak should be the way (mainly because of the Steam Deck).
Moreover, there is already unofficial flatpak package for discord https://github.com/flathub/com.discordapp.Discord , so current staff could just check that package and start supporting it.

This has sort of been addressed by Discord getting the Flatpak verified on Flathub! https://flathub.org/apps/com.discordapp.Discord
The next steps in my mind will be:
- Improve the packaging there (including integrating some library patches where needed)
- Improve integration with Wayland and Portals for things like screen/audio sharing, presence detection, etc.
- Link out to the Flathub version at discord.com and discord.com/flathub
- Eventually integrate building a Flatpak into the upstream build process
But verification is a big first step!
