Recording sounds from computer even though the mic is muted.(headphone mic)

Me and my friends are having experiences of getting our browser or game sounds recorded which is like having echoes and it is very frustrating. I can play a song in my browser while my headphone mic is muted but they can hear the music. They can't hear my voice but can hear the music. Why is this happening?
