Discord Credits. Why add them and what they are about.
Some people prefer paying for stuff in a way that they first buy a sort of a currency and then just buy stuff with it without entering your credit card, being charged tax and maybe fees for frequent payments every time you want to buy something. That's why you should add Discord Credits. Some companies do it so you can either buy the stuff directly with card OR buy some sort of currency and then use that currency as a payment method. Honestly, I do prefer it with the currency as it's convient not having to enter your credit card info, and also maybe paying extra money for being frequently charged small amounts.
For example, Reddit did that with Reddit Coins. Instead of paying 3$ for every gild with card, you buy 1800 coins with card and then use these coins to gild.
So Discord may do it so you buy for example 800 credits for 5 dollars. Then you can use those credits to either recharge your Discord Nitro (800 CR for a month of Nitro Classic, 8000 a year.) OR, you can use these to boost servers. 800 CR for one monthly boost. Maybe when you'll be adding more stuff which requires money, you could use those credits. Don't you say, isn't that convient? I never bought Nitro but may consider doing so if I can buy credits and then use them on stuff instead of providing my credit card every time.

No thanks. 2 -
obfuscating the cost of something to sell more isn't a consumer friendly tactic. it's much easier to part with 1800 coins than it is to part with 5$. This is not something we should want or need.
