Same problem in my discord.

Same issue here, updated video drivers to no avail. Also dumped the appdata files and did a fresh install to have the same problem with the fresh install.

Also same. Reinstalled video drivers, deleted appdata folders and reinstalled as administrator. Featureless screen.
Interestingly if I move the cursor over it changes and I can click the X location to close it, so it's functional, just not visible.

Window key + r then type %appdata% close discord then on the file right click on discord and delete it then open discord back up.

"To clarify, I run Discord on Windows 7 and ran into this problem after the latest update.
Simply right-click the Discord icon, then click Properties.
Under the Compatibility tab, checked the first box (Run this program in compatibility mode for:)
For me Windows XP (Service Pack 3) was already selected, and hit Apply.
Restarted Discord and its back! (and not in black)" - Ky

I was having the same issue. Tried everything mentionned. It has just worked after trying like "Colagen" but for me it works with Windows Vista service pack 2 under comptability on Properties tab. Now it's working as usual.
i'm on Win7 professionnal. Thanks Colagen ;-)0 -
Thanks Colagen! Worked like a charm.

same problem, AND ive discovered you cannot uninstall it. even if you try to uninstall it, and even go in to program files and delete everything, its STILL is on your computer. i found this out by trying to reinstall it, and it just relaunches the program. they got hacked big time is my guess . im gona have to use hijack this to get it off of my computer and do a fresh reinstall of windows . pretty pissed off right now.

If this was due to the recent discord update (February 2020?), check Colagon's post above. Or check this link https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360057813311-Black-screem-on-everything-solved-

@GitGudKid
Thanks. It worked for me :)1 -
An easier method is to go into task manager and close discord from there. Worked for me

Ok, so if none of these other posts did anything for you, I have a trick that might work.
Hit the windows key and search 'Task Manager'. Once the task manager app is open, find the 'Discord 32 bit' tasks, right click on them and hit the 'end task' option. Once the tasks are ended, re-launch discord. 👍

@Gabe Perttingall yours worked right away for me. Thanks!
I specifically had to close a little white one, as opposed to one of the 5 normal blue ones which didn't want to close.

i opened a task manager on my pc but i cant find discord 32 even i have an app, can someone tell me what did i do wrong? i hate black screen issues so much aaa ;(((

Try closing the discord app and then search for it in task manager. Closing it's background processes should reboot the app and fix it's black screen issue. 😉
