Friend groups

Hello,

So I came up with the idea of being able to group friends. Personally i use discord for both personal use and work, I have more than 200 friends on my discord and I can't see the people (chats) i really care about anymore.

I realise the left bar of the discord is already taken for server groups and it wouldn't be very effective to add another folders for grouping friends purposes so i came up with a very minimalistic 'discord themed' idea.

In my opinion there should be a feature that would let us create a new group where we could simply drag and drop our friends. By default the new chats would be added to the 'General' group.

This is how i think this should look like:

Right now the + sign stands for a New message so this is how new message could look like:

I understand there might be not enough space for the new message button because there are already 3 of them, so it could go next to 'Add friend' on the top or this could be solved differently.

When you get a new message a little red square icon would show up on the right side next to the group name with the amount of messages.

Also when you hover over the group, on the left side next to he - / + sign a ˅ ^ would appear that would let you change the group order.

Suming everything up, this is what we would get:

Creating / removing groups
Editing group name
New chats would go to 'General' group by default
Drag & drop your friends to the group
Positioning the groups in a specific order (ex. 'Close friends' on the very top)
If a newly created group would get removed, all the chats would go back to general
+ and - sign would hide and show the list of friends
If we wouldn't want to use the new feature the list would look just like usual
˅ ^ sort buttons when you hover over the group with your mouse
Red square with a number of new messages near the group name

Yea I like this idea, the server folders are so usefull for people who like to "sort" there discord, I just have a hard time finding the "important" people to me who I talk to daily, which ends in me forgetting to send them a goodmorning because they are at the bottom of my list.

Oh yes please this would be so helpful.

It's so messy and confusing especially when you add a bunch of people and now you've lost the order that you've originally had it in...

Discord please we need this
