Non-looping gifs used as profile pictures should stop animating after one "loop"
This is a regression that occurred a few months ago. Previously, a .gif uploaded for use as a profile picture would loop if it was a looping .gif, and not loop if it it was not looping -- shouldn't be a surprise. Now, it is only possible to upload a non-looping gif using the phone interface.
My theory is that the mobile client (which uploads the gifs properly) does not have a cropping step, which makes me think that the cropping component is ingesting gifs and discarding their looping flags when it outputs the final avatar.
I have been told by support that this is a feature, but I find that unbelievable. It is now inconsistent between the desktop and mobile clients, and undermines one of the features I deliberately subscribed to Nitro to gain access to.
Please bring back respecting .gif metadata, or add a setting to select "play once" or "loop indefinitely" when uploading .gifs.

thanks for posting this, never would have thought to use my phone to upload it. This definitely needs fixed, i use a two frame non looping gif to have a logo display and what i want my profile picture to be when people hover on my name. i have been doing this for a while and got really worried when i tried to change it and it was looping and it shouldn't be.
