Discord Nitro Should Not Be Ad-Supported

I've been using Discord's free service for several years and recently upgraded to Discord Nitro. Shortly after my upgrade I opened up Discord and was presented with a banner at the top of the Discord App telling me I had received a Gift. Never seen such a thing before and I clicked on it and it led to me being marketed by Discord, presented with an advertisement for YouTube Premium. After discussing the issue with support it has become clear that:

1) I only received the advertisements because I was a premium member of the paid service, Discord Nitro

2) If I was not paying for Discord Nitro and instead had remained a free user, I would have not been presented third-party commercial advertisements disguised as 'gifts.'

3) This is backwards and unacceptable.
