I have cancelled Nitro because of Discord's NFT/Ethereum plans
Because cancelled using my phone's web browser, I couldn't submit the form saying why I was cancelling, so:
• The environmental impact of Ethereum alone means it is morally irresponsible for Discord to support it.
• Cryptocurrency is a club for rich people. If Discord is going to start giving any particular privileges to holders of cryptocurrency things and similar (NFTs), it's going to be a less inclusive space and obnoxious for most of the service's users, who want to talk to friends about video games and the like, not engage in a crypto [censored]-measuring contest.
• You aren't going to start a decentralised “web3” revolution here. Get off your high-horse. Discord is a centralising force that replaced true decentralised communities: webforums, Mumble servers, etc. Discord is nonetheless the least bad of the centralised platforms, and thus worth paying to support, but the cheek of trying to claim it will decentralise things pisses me and others off.
• If you're getting into this for the money, why? That's why I paid a subscription: I don't want Discord to be sell-outs like so many other services.

I have cancelled my subscription, too, for this reason, also on my phone. NFTs are flashy investment scams that waste power. But it's not the only thing - battery usage is terrible on android and laptops, and nobody asked for the redesign. Discord is a centralized service the future of which hinges on becoming more of a centralized service. Drop the act!
