What is the Friends List?

The friends list is your list of all of the friends that you have added on Discord. Here is everything you can see under the Friends tab: 

  • All: All of your added friends.
  • Online: Your friends who are currently online or idle.
  • Pending: Friend requests you’ve received and sent. You can also view spam requests by tapping the View spam requests sub-section.
  • Blocked: Users you've chosen to block. 

How to Add a User to Your Friends List

Desktop/Browser

Option 1

1. Tap on the Direct Messages icon in the upper-left corner of the app. Then select the Friends tab. 

 

2. Press Add Friend to add a friend. Input their username in the text field and press Send Friend Request to send the request. If the username is not entered correctly, you will receive an error. Otherwise, you can check under Pending to see the pending request.

Option 2

1. While in a server, group message, or direct message (DM), tap on the profile of the user  you’d like to add as a friend.

2. Tap the Add Friend icon [ ]  to send a friend request.

Mobile

Option 1

1. Tap the  Messages icon [] in the top-left corner of the mobile app.

2. Then tap Add Friends.

3.  Add a friend using any of the listed methods, or select Add by Username to input their username.

4. Once you’ve entered the username, press Send Friend Request.

Option 2

1. Tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner and navigate to your friends list by tapping on Your Friends.

2. In the top-right corner tap Add Friends.

3.  Add a friend using any of the listed methods, or select Add by Username to input their username.

Option 3

1. While in a server, group message, or DM, you can tap on a user and then tap on the ellipsis in the top-right corner [].

2. Tap Add Friend to send a friend request. 

How to Accept or Decline a Friend Request

Desktop/Browser

1. If you have any pending friend requests, you can tap the Direct Messages icon in the top-left corner and access the Friends tab.

2. Then tap  Pending to view all of your pending friend requests. To accept a request,  tap the checkmark; to decline, tap x to decline. 

Mobile

1. Tap the Notifications tab at the bottom of the app.

2. Here you will see all pending friend requests. You can tap on Accept to approve it or Ignore to decline it.
