[username change] cringe is dead but this just revived it

So, this username system change was ostensibly made because... usernames and their discriminators are too difficult to remember. Right. How is forcing people to add leetspeak and/or strings of random numbers (strings which are going to be much longer than four numbers, mind you) going to help here? Oh, the username Tequila#7768 is far too difficult to convey, let's have them go for xXT3q\/il4Xx instead! Surely this is much more streamlined a system!

Also, the link linked in the developer announcement is not proof. One person was confused about what the discriminator was. Almost all of the replies were answering their question. I have no idea how this proves that 40% of users don't know what a discriminator is and/or do not remember their own.

By the way nice going on the cybersecurity front, unique usernames are absolutely not going to make people much easier to locate and/or impersonate. No, seriously. This isn't a social media site. This is a messaging app. I'd like not to be easily located on the messaging app.
