[Feature request] Mention tab - blink for new mentions

Use case issue: I get mentioned in some channel (say #cats_are_squishy ) => I open that channel but I don't see the mention since the conversation has moved on. :( I'm sad that I can't answer the awesome person that commented on my cat comment.

A new user(who is lazy and unexperienced like me) would be annoyed since there's no  obvious way to see mentions (noob-friendly).

Until recently I'd go scrolling like crazy in the desperate hope that I'll reach that mention before I break my scrolling wheel. Today I got fed up and googled the solution - there's actually a mentions tab! And it works. And it's awesome!

My suggestion -
1) replace the inbox icon with an "@" icon for the mention tab

2) automatically switch to mentions if there's a new mention

3) make it blink(that usually attracts attention) if there's a new mention

I feel like that will help new users find mentions in a long conversation(especially (3) ). Until now I didn't bother clicking that boring rectangle icon(my logic was probably that if it's next to the help menu it's useless? :-) )
