Better Block Feature
This was something I'd had in mind for a while, but only just became aware I could actually submit as a suggestion. The current block system could very much be improved upon, I think.
When you block a user, their messages still show up and are available to be read if you click on them. It takes a lot for me to block a person, so if I block them I don't want to see them at all, ever again. I propose a block function that works the way most blocks do. Make the person completely invisible to the blocker, and blocker invisible to the blockee. The current system would function well as an "Ignore" system, still allowing you to see what they're saying if you choose to, but having a hard block would be beneficial if you want them gone entirely.

Please keep in mind that one may want to block an account because they want to never see another post from the account again (as in OP's case), however one may also want to block an account to squelch obnoxious behavior but still see insightful or heavily-discussed posts from the blocked account as well.
Both types of blocking have their place, and I hope that we're not forced to choose between FOMO and scrolling over screen after screen of non sequitur.

I agree with this! I don't block people because they mildly annoy me, I block them because something bad had happened between us and I don't want to interact with them ever again. I was just thinking we need to change this.

Definitely agreeing here. As someone who blocks never to see another person again, I'd rather not see their messages, but I would enjoy a toggle between two options like Ranqthas said (one where you see no messages, and one with the current system). I think it would be a really helpful addition to folks who are dissatisfied with the way the block system works currently.

Hard agree. Having a "show message" button next to the blocked button makes me spend a lot of resolve in order to not view it. I'm not sure if I would agree with the blocked person being completely invisible, as then sometimes context from conversations would be gone, but removing the "show message" button makes a lot of sense. It'd also be great to remove a blocked person from your online list; I wouldn't care to know the online status of someone who is blocked.
