Discord Mobile Emoji and/or custom Emoji problem
On the Discord mobile app, sometimes I put in emojis via the window (not typing them, though that might not work either honestly) and seemingly at random times, when the message is sent, the emojis appear as ":emojiexample:" instead of the actual thing. I tried just editing the message and that does not fix it, so it has to be a new one it seems. I don't know if that's a known issue or if this is the right place to report it, but it's really irritating.
Edit (02.02.2022); The issue happens with emotes that have the same names, and it gets confused by capital letters. Thanks for everyone who responded, I'm still mad I never saw any input from someone at Discord itself, but hey... someday... Discord mobile will just stay poopie

I still have this problem...
I already tried changing :Welcome1: into :welcome1: (removing the capital letter), sure it works but thats not the emote i want to use.. its just appear as a basic emote not the custom onesIt's not like I can ask the server owner to change the name as he rarely online and never reply

The emoji doesn't appear in the normal emoji menu but for some reason I can find the emoji in the status update menu. It seems like it had to do with the case of the emoji. Hopefully they can figure this out on mobile

It's not a question of having capital letters in emojis, it's 2 emojis having different cases but the same spelling. I can't tell why one emoji "wins" over another.
In one person's case, with :Gay: and :gay:, :gay: is the only one that works.
For me, :BlobTransHeart: and :blobtransheart:, :BlobTransHeart: is the only one that works

Still an issue. Devs can't figure it out I guess?
And "just rename your emojis" isn't a valid 'solution' when I don't run either discord.1 -
workaround - rename emojis to all lowercase.
If you don't control the server, create your own and add the emoji, renamed in it.This is honestly insane to me that this wasn't an immediate high priority fix. I've seen people get paged for more minor shit than this.
I can't use the main feature that I paid for. That is the worst type of bug and needs to be fixed immediately. I am in disbelief that a band-aid fix hasn't been applied. checking git history to find when this bug was caused is trivial. Normalise emoji names to lowercase internally would probably fix this. 6 months for a bug this serious is unacceptable.

This bug has being in discord from the moment I bought discord nitro (1jan 2021) and I am amazed that this isn't fixed yet?
How is something like this not a priority, it's a paid feature that doesn't work 100% on phones.
Or not even noticed by dev team?0 -
Here's a temporary fix for common emojis you type:
Login to desktop and send the emoji with a blackslash "\" right before the emoji. You'll get a long string like "<:WOW:900033194487840778>". Add this to your phone keyboard dictionary and map it to whatever word you like.
It has been over a year, and we still haven't gotten a fix. Why am I paying for a feature that I am not getting? This is really upsetting.1 -
Agreed, why am I paying for nitro for custom emotes when some of them don't work

just started having this problem. like, literally today. i was even an early a nitro supporter and never had this problem. i cant send the emote from typing it in or selecting it from the emote list. is there seriously no solution for this? i have multiple emotes with the exact same name and never had this problem before
