Discord, you never disappoint when it comes to disappointing.
The change to remove discriminators was a massive mistake. In due time, the amount of crime this will produce will skyrocket and you know that very well. Its easier to block out the screaming masses and just listen to the voices inside your head isnt it?
At this point just sell out to Microsoft, theres no way even they could make it any worse than it is now.
It makes remembering usernames harder, not easier. (Name#8965 or The_RealName_89652nd?)
People will not hesitate to commit literal crimes to get their hands on a specific name and your so called "support" wont even notice it. Neither are you of any help to anyone that really has a problem with their account
Having discriminator numbers so users can have whatever name they want IS LITERALLY WHAT MADE DISCORD STAND OUT FROM THE REST. This is what the majority of people buy Nitro for. Now you have to think of a name thats not used for 2 hours straight, like over at Microsoft or Google.
You guys being convinced that Discord now does better VS Discord ACTUALLY doing better are two very DIFFERENT things.
The amount of Bot, Spam and Phishing DM's will increa- no, EXPLODE exponentially since you dont have to know someones discriminator anymore. Spam someone > get blocked > make new account with generic generated random username > spam > get blocked > repeat.
Youre basically becoming generic, old and boring like the rest.
"If there are already 9999 username taken then you can't have it" and then you guys proceed to make it so only A SINGLE PERSON can now have that name??? Do you guys even listen to your own ideas? because it doesnt seem so in the slightest.
Again, one of the main reasons why Discord was so beloved is because you didnt have to choose a unique username and that you could quickly change it to have fun with friends.
You guys are incredibly dense. You have definitely seen and read many, if not thousands, of the negative feedback posts you have received after announcing this change. But instead of listening to the people that are literally your whole existence, the people that made you, you decide to F them over.
Instead of removing discriminators, you couldve just increased from 10k to 100k and everyone would be happy. Just because your devs have trouble remembering 4 numbers it doesnt mean that everyone else has trouble remembering 4 or 5 numbers. Copy and Paste exist and everyone has EYES they can use to look their discriminator up.
In the most simple form, this change is a gateway to mass-harrassment.
Think about it, youre making Discord alternatives look extremely appealing right now. Its only a matter of time before you regret this change and i seriously hope it kills your platform. You guys are not a Monopoly and after this change you wont ever become one either.
Make a horrible, horrendous and absolutely disgusting change > (too much backlash) > Ignore > Continue ruining your platform. You guys were once modern, now youre becoming facebook.

unlike me who got randomly woken up by this in my mail I try to appeal it but I doubt discord gives a crap

@Vanny at most youre going to get a copy pasted bot reply. They dont give a single flying sht about their users, as portrayed perfectly by the discriminator removal. No one wanted this.

I've already had my user name changed because of this awful idea. It changed my name and my posts in all of the servers I've been in because my preferred username was taken already. Then if you try to change your username and just add the discriminator that was already on your account, it says "This discriminator cannot be updated" Okay? Then why have that option in the app in the first place? Discord what the hell is going on? I just want to easily use the name I use online for everything else. You've made it so that I need to go to each and every individual server to change my "server profile". And I'll have to do this every time I join a new server now, too. This is a much worse scenario than just having a simple 4 digit number to remember.
