name change is stupid

I can tell you right now I'm going to let this time out. I actually want to keep the discriminator because that naming convention is great for keeping bot spam and other BS at bay. Discriminators are MORE SECURE, that is why most MODERN APPLICATIONS use them. Removing the discriminator is NOT making your platform MORE MODERN. It is making it more closely resemble legacy convention.

All of the statistics presented and the justifications for doing this make me wonder if this didn't come from some marketing goon or something because I have a hard time believing any of the techs backed this. It's a lot of extra work and BS for literally zero gain, the reasoning being presented is laughably dumb, and the statistics make me ask some big questions about their composition. Whoever wrote the announcement sounded like they had no clue what they're talking about. Seriously, they made the entire company look really dumb with this.

Any issues would have been solved way easier by just having a ‘copy my username’ button so people could just past it wherever. But no, making the entire userbase change their names to make things easier for botters, that's obviously the big brain move.
