Discord isn't going to fix this.
Thousands of posts here about the new mobile app, many of them actually very constructive in detailing what, exactly, is wrong with it, what could be done to improve it, why it should be rolled back, and many more people supporting these assertions. Thousands upon thousands of new reviews in the Google Play Store for the Android app doing the same.
What has the response from Discord been?
Silence.
I can't fathom how many people have canceled their Nitro subscriptions and server boosts over this – I know I have, and I've encouraged everyone I know to do so as well. Feedback isn't working. App reviews aren't working. Impacting their subscription revenue isn't even working?
Guys, this seems like a no-brainer. You've really messed up bad here, and you are presented with a crisp, clear opportunity to recover the loyalty of your user base by listening to them… and your response to this self-created crisis is… nothing?
It is clear to me that canceling my Nitro and server boosts was the right move. Giving money to Discord was a bad idea in the first place and I'm regretting being a longtime subscriber. It's clear that Discord doesn't care what their user experience is like, doesn't care about the problems that they have caused an otherwise happy, vibrant community, and from where we sit it just looks like mindless corporate arrogance.
I've read through so many posts here and I have to say… you have to be pretty heartless, callous, or just plain stupid to not see a simple course of action here that could right the ship. Some people just want to watch the world burn. It's unfortunate when it is someone burning their own house down.

Here’s a petition to change things back!

tbh that they don’t care about mobile, enough complaining that won’t solve anything.

Yeah, this was yet another reminder that at any time, a company can change anything. Whether they're a private company or not, they'll listen to their investors first (and yes, Discord does have them). We are bought and sold. You could say I'm being dramatic, butwe've had a lot of good examples of corporate crap this year. Unity trying to use a runtime fee, YouTube/Google with its war against adblockers (now going as far as suspending users over it). The point is, a company isn't going to care about its individual users. I don't know if they realize they are going the way of Skype. The difference with Skype is it has a large corporation able to back it up. Discord might have investors like Tencent but it's nowhere near the size of Microsoft. This is why Skype still exists. And unlike Microsoft Discord's product is their messaging app… So yeah they honestly can't afford to make the same mistake and bleed money.
I don't know. At this point I'm advocating for open source. I'm using Firefox, I'm using Godot and I'll be moving to the open source Discord clone called Revolt (which even gives you nitro type things for free). I don't want a company to have me and my friends by the balls every time they decide they know better than we do about what we want.
Go screw yourselves Discord.

Ethasamullet It makes me want to give something like this a serious try: https://app.revolt.chat
They even have a mobile app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=chat.revolt.app.twa
EDIT: Derp, and I completely missed your Revolt reference in your message. Disregard! :)

Cool idea for messaging your friends (although for that I would rather recommend Signal), but what about actual servers? I'm in a server with over 20k users, of which over 6k are online at the moment. Does Revolt allow you to access Discord servers, sort of like an overlay? If not, I can't expect the whole server, which I don't own, to move there. And this is the only server I'm in pretty much, and the sole reason I even started using Discord.

However, based on general industry practices and past instances, the response from Discord to such feedback would likely involve several steps:
Acknowledgment: Discord would likely acknowledge the feedback and concerns raised by users. This could be through social media channels, blog posts, or even within the app itself.
Communication: Discord might communicate its plans to address the issues raised. This could include a roadmap for updates and improvements based on user feedback.
Updates and Fixes: Discord would work on implementing changes and fixes based on the feedback received. This might involve rolling out updates to the app to address specific issues highlighted by users.
Engagement: Discord may engage with users directly through social media, forums, or other channels to gather further feedback and ensure that their concerns are being addressed.Transparency: Discord would likely aim to be transparent about the changes being made to the app and how they address user feedback. This could involve providing detailed release notes or blog posts outlining the updates.
