So is the goal to squeeze out all the useful parts of the interface or
I want to type in the message space more often than anything else. I upload attachments on the regular, and occasionally this provides an effective way to get to the emojis. I've never once wanted to hit nitro. I've never wanted to hit the microphone. And i don't anticipate ever caring about the new activities button. I've already it multiple times without ever wanting to. I've hit the microphone and gift and emoji buttons without wanting to many, many, MANY times. They already annoyed me DEEPLY, and that's before another button i will never utilize was squeezed into the same limited space.

My phone screen is slightly more than two inches wide. This is excessive. It's user-unfriendly. I struggle to conceptualize the user who would want and use all of these. The nitro button is obviously to bait users into spending cash money, but already was annoying enough I would have refused to do so on principle. And then another button was added. There's barely room for two medium-sized words in the text space.
I know discord employs people trained in ui design. Why not let them do their job? Why not use other parts of the screen for some of this? Why is the message bar not limited to functionality directly related to messages? The nitro gift button will already swap out for a create thread button in the right circumstances, so I know there's internal awareness that the interface IS cluttered, but rather than streamlining (like nesting polls inside attachments), a whole new piece of clutter was added.
The attachment button is useful, the message bar is critical, the microphone is important for accessibility. And i can resentfully accept the emoji button. Why are there two more buttons past that? Why not nest activities inside the emojis with stickers and gifs? Why is the actual typing space perhaps a third of the actual area, with lots of wrong targets between my thumbs and hitting the spot to type a message? I'm not even a particularly picky or clumsy user, my phone has a large screen, and i rolled with the last major ui change fine even if I thought it was a downgrade. But why keep searching for new ways to make a perfectly functional part of the design less and less usable with every update?
