Stop cycling the news when an item is clicked

At the moment, news items at the top in the activity tab are cycling every so many seconds.
This is not a problem, but when I click one of those news items, I don't always have enough time to read it fully, before it cycles to the next one.

My suggestion is that if someone clicks one of these news items, that the cycling between them stops until the news items aren't visible anymore (by going to a chat, a different tab (library, store, etc) or by scrolling down.
