Cross Channel Voice Communication
If you could enable users to communicate trough different channels. This feature would help a lot of FPS games where you play in squads or platoons and squad leader could communicate to squad leader in other channel for better co-organization.
If there is a two squads in one channel or more things get so difficult and a lot of noise is generated because there are a lot of people communicating to each other.
Perfect situation would be if one user would be able to communicate to other set user in another channel or every user to user, not sure what is easier to achieve in development?
I am sure a lot of Squad, Arma, Battlefield etc. players would highly appreciate this feature in Discord.
This option should be on live since 2000... I can t really understand why it's still not @air1
Absolutely agree, missing cross channel communication is the only thing that still makes people prefer teamspeak to discord.
I hope devs gonna listen us and add this feature at last1
This is a critical feature. It should be top priority for Discord Devs. Lacking whisper functionality is holding back a lot of players/clans from making the switch to Discord.3
I approve this message.1
it's pretty much a necessity in flight sims like IL-2 and DCS.1
Hey devs, please add this asap.
Or are there any new informations on this topic?1
This is a great idea. You could have all of the squad leaders in the "squad-leader" channel and the members in their respective "squad" channel. Additionally, you could have per channel priority speakers so that the squad leader could have priority speaker in the "squad" channel but not in the "squad-leader" channel.2
Dear devs, this feedback is now open for 9 months straight. Getting regular "Please do" on it.
For guild leadership with large group pvp content a feature like this is essential to succeed. Right now I have to consider to get the old TS server back up because the voie lacks features like this.
We would be really interested to know if you have planned such a feature or not.3
Discord would make some things so much easier to do. But this is a critical feature that i do need regularly and without discord is not an option for us.1
How is this not a thing yet? They've been "working on it" for almost a year. At least we have swoopy emogis ;-)3
I don't understand, it seems a main/core feature for me...
...But there are most popular demands about gif and emojis....1
Where is Discord support? Why has this not even been addressed by somebody that works there yet? This post has been going for months and there's still no traction or even Vision on it. Can someone Elevate this so it can have some kind of vision? Like are we missing proper verbage or information about this suggestion and that's why there's not even a single post from Discord Devs or have they just not seen it yet? Can a mod ping somebody for this please?1
I cant be the only one who is amazed this feature doesnt exist yet right? People really need to get the word out on this.1
I've been linking this page to all of my friends across multiple discords and Steam Friends and asking them to "upvote".. it takes two seconds and will go a long way.1
We need everyone to spread the word, mostly to communities where this is a necessary feature.0
Longer discord developers delay this feature, more others get dedicated to other systems.
This really should be basics in the team based VoIP systems.
We need possibility to whisper to specific user(s) across the channel(s) so no one else will hear it, and when the whisper comes, it will automatically lower general volume of others.
This so that example 4 players can talk together and then quickly form a two pairs that communicates among themselves, or two players can whisper to each others without others hearing them at that moment.
The target of whisper should be possible be in any channel, as long on same server.
And such binding should be saved so it doesn't change between sessions.
In simple, one feature is that you can just assign a binding to specific friend that is toggle or hold to speak only to him.
Same way have a binding to talk to whole channel or multiple channels at once, to make a general speech. And in channel settings this would be made in priority so that in such order speaking people silence/lowers volume everyone else.
The button should well make it possible listen the other side/channel in that moment.1
A lot of us have been saying this all four months at this point when it comes down to is that Discord needs to acknowledge the existence of this post or at least say that they are working on it either brain storming or something.0
This could easily apply to Flight Simulation enthusiasts.1
The flight simulator needs something else, a virtual radio compatibility. So that discord would be connected but used only when aircraft radios are tuned correctly.
Such systems are what many common gamers do not value at all....0
We have actually been asking for this feature for over 2 years, not a few months. Last year in this thread, I asked the Devs to weigh in on this, and they did, but I'm not going to manually search through a great many pages to find it.
Hey Discord Devs, can you please provide us with an update or status of this?
2 years means a long time in software business, and likely in the level of software that discord is, that it will not come ever out until rewrite is done.1
Especially now with the announcement of MS Flight Sim. If the game comes with integrated radio people will stop using discord.0
Where are we at with this?
Is there any dev presence on this thread??
Have been thinking about this functionality for a couple of months and
1. had no idea the requirement was so widespread across different titles
2. That other voip providers have this functionality.
you have an amazing product, but this really is something of an Achilles heel
Interesting thing here is that the people commenting here are no doubt the ‘group/squad’ leader profiles who manage groups of 5-100 other users in game.
@devs technically this means you have a 5000-5,000,000 user representation/problem here.
Are you interested in a 5million user drop? Would be nice if you could comment ;)1
To put it a different way. If this is so important to leaders/organisers in game. Is this not a 5,000,000 user opportunity??1
Just trowing in my "100 users behind representative" chip: we are a Star Citizen community, and we would benefit from this as well, since different ships/squadron could use separate communication channels. We are currently on Discord but we are considering moving to TS, that has channel voice whispers, configurable and bindable, exactly what we would need.
Knowing what's the offical stance on this feature could help our decision to stay (and I'm really rooting for it!).0
This is a great idea and I think I know how to easily do this visually. Enter Parent/Child channels.
-- Warcraft Raid (Parent Channel)
---- Tanks (Child Channel)
Now everyone in the parent can hear each other using your preferred push to talk or voice activated chat. However if you are a member of a child channel you can press a special key to just talk to people only in the child channel. Thus you can still hear call outs from the main channel yet not muddy it up with your private chatter to each other. Only problem is you might need an auditory sound in front of the child channels speakers so they know you are only talking to members of this child channel.0
This is a must for Eve Online as well. We can have fleets with up to 1000 people at times and fleet commands of smaller 100 man wings need to be able to communicate via a commander chat to other commanders as well while still being able to listen to their wing members.0
