Quick Switcher - Quickly switching is frustrating as the order of results often changes as you type.

I have this happen to me almost every time I want to switch to a conversation.

Specifically, if I'm trying to find a friend quickly:

  • Type in their username after the @ in the input box.
  • See their name appear as the first, and only item in the results list.
  • Press enter.
  • The results changed in the meantime, so now I've opened a brand new conversation with some rando from a server I'm in.

Maybe there's something about the specific rhythm / connection speed I have that makes the stars align for this to happen, however I believe that this can still be done better!

I believe that the list of results should have a deterministic order to them, so I can trust that when I press enter, what I intended to happen will happen:

  1. Friends with conversations open
  2. Others with conversations open
  3. Friends
  4. Others

This is mostly to give an idea of the sort of thing I'd like to see!

    Yes please! This happens a lot to me too.

    I have friends who seem to share names with dozens of others on the servers I'm on. Makes them hard to find, especially since SOME friends don't know how annoying it is that they keep switching avatars, but if they were, y'know, AT THE TOP OF THE LIST, would make things much easier.

    Maybe also have an indicator which people are friends and which aren't..?
