Soft "Blocking"

Make it an option to "Block" someone where you don't get notifications from them however you're still friends on discord Take this as an example; you have a friend in real life where you don't want to block them outright because you know them in real life and that would be awkward, however you find them incredibly annoying and they keep sending you links to youtube videos and things. Even if you don't have this situation, this happens more often then you think and so you should do people who are affected a favour and vote this up. This would work by having a user equivalent to "notification settings" and so you could set the severity, this would not tell the other user that they were "blocked" and so they would be nonethewiser. This would also not disallow messages from this person just not give you a notification.

    I'd love a feature where I only get unread notifications if the messages are from users on my friends list (or even better, only from certain users regardless of friending!). Being able to set notifications by user would be great.

    i would love this as well. there are a lot of times where blocking someone would not be a good idea because they know you blocked them, and muting them still makes them pop up on the direct messages.

    I agree with this. Sometimes certain friends just get overwhelming. I know you can mute people, but I've got friends that watch for me to come online. I'd love to be able to show as invisible only to certain people rather than everyone.

    my rating in % would be 100% here, since a block does seem harsh and there should be a softer version of the block feature, the mute feature is there though, but people bypass it via user pings (that should be changed too, because it is annoying to get a random ping from a muted DMs and direct ping supress is also missing, since it would be a perfect anti-raid feature, (imagine if it existed:) when raiders try to ping someone, but they have direct ping supress on, they do not get notified)
