    Exact same issue! If it hasn't been updated/fixed in this long, yeah you would start to think its intentional..
    although discord can gain absolutely nothing by not updating this feature and make a lot of users ECSTATIC by simply adding a mirror preview view option!
    Obviously its a support issue! Not one Mod or Support Staff i bet has read this thread! And therein lies the problem!

    DISCORD !! PLEASE FIX THIS !! ATTENTION FFS 😂🤬

    If it help anyone. You see the input of the camara mirrored in YOUR monitor, but the other user (the studente for instance) doesnt see it mirrored, they see it "normal".

    So, if you have to read something you wrote on a whiteboard, you should reed it from the whiteboard itsefl and not your screen. But the person who is watching your streaming can read the things normally. I hope i made myself clear, as english is not my first lenguage.

    Rocla, if you read previous comments, literally every one of us here understands that! It’s the simple fact that they won’t add this very simple feature to help us all out! If it displayed backwards to us AND our audience, then we could simply flip the camera and it would be fine for both parties! But having it display one way for us and the opposite way for the audience is completely unnecessary and a huge pain in all our asses!!! Haha

    Except in my case, viewers told me it was mirrored for them as well.

    Mirrored for me too.
    Interestingly, half of my students see it mirrored, and half of them see it normal !
    Otherwise, I would simply use manycam (for exemple) to shift it - in my case this is solving the problem only for half of my students, so I keep on shifting the screen every minute for everyone to be able to follow what I am writing on the board : what a mess !

    Hi, that would be interesting to know if all of your students have the exact same version of discord, or maybe if the ones with normal/mirrored view are on a specific operating system

    same issue I use a kinect camera on a windows 10 amd pc and it flip no matter what program I have it grab the feed from or the camera directly

    How in the world is this a problem that's persisted for over 2 years?! The idea that Discord automatically mirrors webcam footage is insane - that should be handled via external webcam software, and it should be unmirrored by default.

    Hmmm. Well i never noticed before, but yeah its mirrored... And since OBS now implented a Virtual Camera-Mode its super easy to stream for your community on your discord.... but... its mirrored...

    Again: Please fix this and insert a "Mirror Cam"-Button.

    100% need a checkbox to remove the mirrored setting.

    Most applications that provide webcam output provide this, but with the virtual cam services that are offered now this is an especially pressing feature that needs to be implemented.

  • Eurymachus

    Actually, just confirmed that the screen is only mirrored for the user who is streaming. Everyone else sees the content the 'correct' way around.

  • PrinnyCanBeHero

    Eurymachus In my case a viewer verified that text was backwards on their screen.

    2 years have passed since, still no response. I actually don't mind picture being mirrored, but I want it to be mirrored on both ends, having a preview that in fact doesn't show the way others see you ruins the goal of the preview.

    I understand why you mirror it on our end (so we are not confused, because we are used to look at mirror) and why you don't mirror it on other end (e.g. for others to read your text), and also I understand why you don't have UI for that — it's already too complicated and it would require 2 toggles, and people would barely understand the difference between them, but you could still add it in some advanced settings.

    Classic example of Discord focusing on features no one asked for when simple stuff like this isn't completed.

    For those on desktop who may be interested, you can unmirror yourself in the meantime via removing the mirror class tag using inspector.

    Look for: "<canvas id="media-engine-video-"

  • Peekofwar

    Can anyone confirm that this only happens for the person hosting the feed (eg guests watching the feed don't have this issue)?

    1
  • WhiteMale

    I can confirm it's only for you.

    It's literally just a CSS visual applied to the your feed for no one but yourself.

    Once again you can fix it for yourself by turning it off via the Console. (Ctrl+Shift+I)

    Ctrl+Shift+I

    $('#erd_scroll_detection_scrollbar_style').append("/* Unmirror Webcam*/.mirror-1Z13AJ {-webkit-transform:none!important;transform:none!important;}");

    OBS now allows for virtual camera, without having the ability to flip in Discord everything is reversed. Please add this feature.

    "Once again you can fix it for yourself by turning it off via the Console"
    @WhiteMale

    That sadly only seems to work for full-screen feeds and doesn't fix the mini-preview that shows when you click onto text channels...

    "That sadly only seems to work for full-screen feeds and doesn't fix the mini-preview that shows when you click onto text channels..."

    You're right.. you can type this into the Console instead to fix both.

    $('#erd_scroll_detection_scrollbar_style').append("/* Unmirror Webcam*/.mirror-1Z13AJ {-webkit-transform:none!important;transform:none!important;}.mirror-1i_yQY {-webkit-transform:none!important;transform:none!important;}");

    It tags may get updated and not work in the next major update but we can only hope they implement it by then 🙃

  • Andypoo

    Similar to WhiteMale's suggestion, I also did this way to remove the main window mirror:

    document.getElementsByClassName("mirror-1Z13AJ")[0].classList.remove("mirror-1Z13AJ");

    And this for the preview:
    document.getElementsByClassName("mirror-1i_yQY")[0].classList.remove("mirror-1i_yQY");

    Hoping the more hacks/workarounds we post here, the more likely a 'proper' solution is sped up.

    Is this the new PS5 controller that can't be bought?

    They showed at SONY that it is partially painted white,

    but they have a mistake with SKYPE programs and invert their white colors to black to,

    like mirroring in Discord.

    Ugh, this is annoying. My video is mirrored and I can't reverse it. Zoom lets me do this easily.

    FYI I'm using OBS version 26 with the OBS Virtual Camera webcam driver. Seems like others are having the same problem with a similar setup.

    Bump. Just got a webcam... and realized I can't unmirror my video so any text overlays are reversed... always. Please fix this.
