No push notifications without stupid bubble?

So I no longer can get push notifications on any of my servers (none of them have more than 20 members) unless I activate a stupid facebook Messenger-like bubble. It's annoying and it gets in my way because I can't even swipe it away like I can FBM style. Who thought this was a good idea?!
