Picture only threads and a comment feature on picture posts

I am in a community which posts many pictures, and many people like to comment on said pictures. Comments on said pictures tend to clutter the chat. Rather than having a separate thread for picture comments, which is an idea that has been floating around, maybe make a channel "picture only" and have a "allow comments" checkbox on it to make the channel allow only pictures or picture links allowed to be posted and all the commentary is in the picture comment section. (Pretty much like Facebook or Instagram does it)
