New Channel Type: Art-Gallery with Comments (Facebook-Style)
Introduction:
Hello everyone, I currently run a small art-related server with roughly 100 Members. In there we have a couple of channels to share artworks and WIPs with each other.
The Problem:
When People post Art (Images) in a Channel they usually will be out of sight really quickly as soon as others start commenting on those pictures. This is sad because it might prevent some community members from seeing the picture at all.
On top of that it makes for an unpleasant viewing experience, since there is oftentimes more text than "Art" in a channel dedicated to Artworks.
This gets even worse if people try to catch up at a later time and post feedback on older artworks (maybe a couple of days old).
The Solution:
I think Discord needs a new Channel-Type which works similarily to the facebook timeline. This way all the feedback and comments an artwork recieves will be tucked in below the post of the Artwork! Basically the way you can comment on facebook-posts.
A similar solution has already been requested here: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360056907292-How-bout-a-specialy-designed-image-Gallery-channel?input_string=New%20Channel%20Type:%20Art-Gallery%20with%20Comments%20(Facebook-Style)
The Result:
This results in a channel where you can scroll through all the artworks easily without "walls of Text" in between each post. If you want you can click on any of the artworks to expand into the comment-section, where you can see all the post-related comments and feedback!
Normally all the comments are hidden below the original post though.
I think this channel-type would be very useful for many different scenarios apart from the art-related channel mentioned in this post! Maybe for a "meme-channel" or an "introduction-channel" so that people can comment on an introducion....
What do you think?

I can see this being used for my own server as well, but the problem with art being backed up will still remain and unless it pings the user, they won't get the feedback. Pinging could also lead to unwanted cases of "ghost pings" (I hate those things) that would be a pain to try and find. I would think about new comments bringing the piece upfront but I'm afraid that would drown out other, less popular artists, making it harder for them to grow a reputation.
A great idea that I would love to see implemented after a bit of work figuring out how to better manage/use it. I'm excited to see what others come up with to fix the above problems.

Wow you bring up some interesting points, Amber!
In my opinion the channel should be a strickt-timeline -> every Artwork in the order of the original post-date.And yes I think the artist should be notified, whenever they get a comment on a piece (maybe also similar to the way facebook manages notifications in that regard).
Btw. I don't really like facebook (and don't use it), but I think some of its features would make a lot of sense in discord!I'm also looking forward to further input regarding our problems - there are so many creative masterminds out there - maybe someone has the perfect solution!
